Prawns in a spicy garlic sauce

Gambas al ajillo

Gambas al ajillo are delicious prawns in a spicy garlic sauce and are a staple of traditional Spanish cuisine. Their unique, savoury and spicy flavour is what makes them so special.

They are often served in restaurants and tapas bars. They are very easy to prepare.
Ingredients

400 g peeled prawns
8 garlic cloves
100 ml olive oil
Salt
Pepper or chilli peppers
1 tbsp fresh parsley

The preparation


Step 1:

Peel the garlic cloves and slice them finely. Finely chop the parsley. If the prawns are frozen, allow them to thaw.

Step 2:

Pour the olive oil into a frying pan and heat it up. When the oil is hot, reduce the heat to medium, add the garlic and fry until lightly browned.

Step 3:

Next, add the prawns, salt, pepper or chilli to taste, and fry for a further 4–5 minutes. Give it a gentle stir every now and then. Done. Serve hot with baguette in small bowls.
