Spanish lentil stew

This is a hearty homemade lentil stew.

It comes in many different variations, with everyone having their own recipe.

Like all lentil stews, it tastes even better the next day. It is also ideal for freezing.

A real treat, especially on cold days. It is very easy to prepare and always turns out well.

You simply must try it.
Ingredients

500 g lentils
1 onion
2 large potatoes
1 carrot
200 g bacon in one piece
2 chorizo sausages
1 clove of garlic
5 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp parsley
1/2 tsp sweet paprika powder

Preparation: approx. 1.5 hours

The preparation


Step 1:

Soak the lentils in water for at least 12 hours. Then place them in a sieve, rinse under running water and drain.

Step 2:

Place the lentils in a large saucepan and fill with water until they are well covered.

Step 3:

Peel and quarter the onion. Peel and crush the garlic. Peel and slice the carrot and peel and dice the potatoes. Cut the pepper sausage into slices approx. 1 cm thick.

Step 4:

Add all the ingredients and the piece of bacon to the lentils and bring to the boil.

Step 5:

Cook on a high heat for approx. 5 minutes. Then reduce to a low heat and simmer for 50-60 minutes (depending on the lentils). Season to taste with salt. Done!
